Frederick in Flight

The sixth annual Frederick in Flight will take place Friday June 24, Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26 with morning hot air balloon lifts, and a Saturday evening Glow Party all happening in Centennial Park (630 8th St.).

Over thirty hot air balloons and parachutists will fill the sky as soon as the sun comes up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at Centennial Park. During the Saturday morning lift, children can enjoy flight-themed activities with the Carbon Valley Recreation District, Face to Face face-painting and catch parachuting Chick-fil-A beanie cows that will drop from the last balloon that takes to the sky. Heavenly Mini Donuts will be on hand to offer coffee and tasty treats for purchase.

New this year is a Glow Party beginning at 6 p.m. in Centennial Park complete with live music, children’s activities, food and a beer, cider and wine garden. When the sun goes down, balloon baskets will ‘candle-stick’ and show off their flames and hot air balloons will glow from the ground. Carbon Valley Relay for Life will be hosting a silent auction in the beer garden to benefit the American Cancer Society.

Please be advised all activities are weather permitting. Also keep in mind that Colorado Blvd is currently closed from Hwy 52 to Tipple Pkwy. The best route to detour to the event is to take Hwy 52 to Frederick Way before heading west on 5th Street and south on Locust Street which will take you directly to Centennial Park which runs the length of 8th Street.
