The first impression or realization from the Vikings exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science is how little I knew about the people, who originated in Scandinavia during the period 750-1100 CE. The exhibit is spacious with enough room to wander around without bumping into other people. The museum keeps a quasi control over the quantity of people in the room at any given time.
In short, there is something for every age to be intrigued with here.
Jesus Christ Superstar, the rock opera that shook up Broadway in its 1971 debut, currently is rocking the Arvada Center in a nearly flawless production. Director Rod Lansberry and his team meticulously researched the year 33 A.D for a realistic staging of the final days of Christ’s life. Add the cacophony of the 70s synthesizer-heavy rock music of a young (21) Andrew Lloyd Webber and punchy pop lyrics by 25-year-old Tim Rice, and it’s another spectacular hit musical for the Arvada Center. As an opera, there are no spoken words, only singing.
When creating the family’s budget, it is easy to look at individual categories and determine that they are too expensive or that there are cheaper alternatives elsewhere. If the cell phone bill is $200 a month, a basic online search could reveal that another provider offers the same service for half the price. In this respect, budgeting is often a very apples-to-apples comparison that promises easy decisions.
I recently sat down with Emmy award winner Adele Arakawa, co-anchor of the 5 & 10PM news at 9News. She is and was the consummate journalist. She takes her job very seriously and has really appreciated her time here in Denver and the station that believed in her. She is set to retire from 9News on July 1 of this year. For this respected anchor, the date marks 24 years in this market. She is uncomfortable at the thought of being a role model, but from my perspective, she is.
